RUGBY GATEWAY CLUB
(Charity No. 1084304)
WHO ARE WE ?
Rugby Gateway Club is a social and leisure activity club for adults with a learning disability who reside in the borough of Rugby or surrounding area. It was part of Rugby Mencap for many years until that organisation ceased to exist, and so the Gateway Club was set up as a charity in its own right in the year 2000. Overall, it has been operating for 40+ years. Gateway Clubs are affiliated to Royal Mencap and, as such, are required to operate to a level of agreed standards, procedures and practices. The Club’s constitution is approved by the Charity Commission and Royal Mencap, and the Club operates a Code of Conduct which covers ‘Protection of Vulnerable Adults’ and ‘Health & Safety’. The Club is run by an experienced and well-respected leader with support from a group of regular helpers, all of whom are volunteers. The Club Leader and regular helpers have all been CRB checked. The Club has close contact with New Directions.
WHEN DO WE MEET ?
The club meets on Friday evenings, 7 to 9 pm throughout the year at Hamilton House (The Hoskyn Centre) which is situated at the town end of Bilton Road, just off the gyratory system and virtually opposite New Directions. Transport home is provided if requested.
WHAT DO WE DO ?
A range of weekly events are organised, and are decided upon in conjunction with the members. Regular activities include discos & karaoke, games and craft nights, quizzes, guest demonstrations and barbecues. Also, the Club celebrates the festive times of year with much enthusiasm, eg. Easter, Halloween and a party or more at Christmas. Also, occasional outings take place to other Gateway Clubs and local places of interest, and there is always a Mystery Trip each Summer. Annually, there is a popular holiday arranged for one week, usually in June or July with full supporting supervision.
Any initial contact regarding someone wishing to attend the Club or becoming a helper or anything about its operation should be made by telephone to the Club Leader, Phil Bianco, as follows:

or alternatively via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
There is also a management committee that meets quarterly to oversee matters.
