We were delighted to be invited to a special afternoon tea with the Mayor of Rugby, Cllr. Nooria Sayani, followed by a fascinating tour of the Mayor’s Parlour and Council Chamber.
The afternoon provided a wonderful opportunity for the people we support to visit Rugby Town Hall, explore the Council Chamber and learn more about the role of the Mayor and how local decisions are made.
During our visit, we also had the opportunity to talk about the Mayor’s theme of Pluralism and what it means to celebrate and value different communities, cultures, backgrounds and perspectives. It was a great opportunity for everyone to share their thoughts, ask questions and learn more about the importance of inclusion within our local community.
The visit to the Council Chamber was certainly memorable, and we even had an ‘impromptu takeover’ of the Council Chamber! This brought plenty of fun and laughter, with everyone enjoying the opportunity to sit in the different seats and make themselves at home.
It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved and making the most of the experience. From exploring the Council Chamber and learning about local civic life to enjoying afternoon tea together, it was a memorable afternoon filled with learning, conversation, fun and plenty of smiles.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Mayor of Rugby, Cllr. Nooria Sayani, for inviting us and making the afternoon so special for the people we support. We would also like to thank Rugby Borough Council for their continued support and for helping us create opportunities for the people we support to engage with and learn more about their local community.
It was a fantastic afternoon and one that we will remember fondly.
