ENTRY CHOSEN FOR THE ‘HOLD STILL’ COMPETITION ‘BOB’S BAR’
Photographs That Have United Us!
Over the past few months sharing photographs in our Facebook community has brought us together more than ever. New Directions is now proud to show off these examples of the impact we have made and our vital charity work externally. These moments captured in photographs will be seen in our ‘Pandemic Edition’ newsletter and also in a special photography competition.
Hold Still
Photographic Competition
Spearheaded by The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron of the National Portrait Gallery, Hold Still, a portrait of our nation in 2020. It is an ambitious community project to create a unique photographic portrait which captures the spirit, mood, hopes, fears and feelings of the nation as we continue to deal with the Coronavirus outbreak.
Themes for the competition are:
- Helpers and Heroes
- Your New Normal
- Acts of Kindness
ENTRY 2:
A reminder from Tina about how many people needed to ‘Stay Home’
ENTRY 3:
Rose shows us how the new-normal has changed our everyday lives.
Hold Still will capture a snapshot of the people of the UK at this time, creating a collective portrait of our nation which will reflect resilience and bravery, humour and sadness, creativity and kindness, human tragedy and hope as we hold still for the good of others, and celebrate those who have continued so we can stay safe.
We had some extraordinary photos through our Facebook community page and some worthy contenders to submit. One hundred shortlisted portraits will feature in a virtual exhibition on the Gallery’s website in August and a selection of images will also be shown across the UK later in the year.
