I joined New Directions Rugby in January 2025 into the new post of Quality Assurance Manager after being impressed by the ethos of the charity and the difference that is made in the lives of the people who are supported by our services.
I have worked in health and social care since 1977 when left home in Swansea and started my nurse training in Plymouth. Since then I have worked in care and nursing homes around the country working my way up to my first Registered manager Role in 1998. I have work with a mixture of providers, including charities, local authority and in the private sector, as a Registered Manager predominantly focussing on older people and in particular dementia care and mental health.
In 2021 I decided to take a step back from care delivery and joined a local authority quality improvement team initially as a monitoring officer and then as a senior monitoring officer working with providers delivering services to working aged adults. I bring this mixture of the knowledge and skills that my 45+ years working with vulnerable individuals to my role at New Directions as I support the teams and those we work with.
